Kasane Airport and getting to Chobe at a glance

Kasane International Airport (BBK) lies about 4 km south of Kasane and is the closest airport to the park. You can also drive to Kasane on tarmac via Nata, or cross from Victoria Falls or Livingstone. The sandy tracks through Savuti are a separate matter and need their own planning.

If you come from the falls, the simplest way is an organised Chobe day trip from Victoria Falls that handles the border and the transfers for you. For a self-drive trip, read the car rental and driving notes below.

The cable-stayed Kazungula Bridge over the Zambezi with its walkway

Kazungula Bridge and the border crossings

The Kazungula Bridge over the Zambezi links Botswana with Zambia. It opened on 10 May 2021 and traffic started the next day. It is a different crossing from the Kazungula road crossing to Zimbabwe, so check which one your route uses.

On the bridge, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. is the usual figure, and 24-hour operation was announced for 2026. For the Zimbabwe road crossing, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. is a planning figure, and the Ngoma post to Namibia is typically open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Use these as a guide, not as a promise, and check on the day.

The road between Sedudu and Ngoma has been open for transit round the clock since 1 April 2025. That is a transit road, not a night game drive. Speed limits are 40 km/h in the park and 80 km/h on the marked asphalt transit road. Read about the town in our Kasane guide.
